MY RESPONSIBILITIES

Worked with the Game Design Team to design an evergreen game about farming for DBS bank. Despite the initial game pitch was well received, we had to scale back the evergreen portion of the game and released one of five mini-games we had designed to check how well players would engage with games like this before creating the evergreen version in MVP 2. The concept of the game was to Increase customer engagement of PayLah! app through interactive gaming activity, drive P2B transaction for selected partners tile, Increase daily app usage activity with open banking integration, Include monetisation opportunities, including and spaces in selected game screen pages.

Together with the game design team, we planned out all future mini-games for MVP2.. I was also responsible for the overall look and feel of the game from the proposed mechanics.

RESEARCH & DESIGN INTENT (MVP 1)

As a experiment, Only MVP 1 is currently released, This gamification solution will run over a period of 2 months to drive new-to-merchant activation. There will be one (1) simple hyper-casual game with instant gratification upon game completion. The aim is to roll-out a quick proof-of-concept solution with minimum tech enhancements for quick testing and learning.

For MVP the intent was for players to engage with the in-app notification and play the hyper-casual game. As well as to encourage conversion, as players making a transaction at a new merchant to take advantage of the entitlement (i.e. $2 cashback voucher) received through the said game. After playing the game, players are guaranteed to receive a voucher or prize.

RESEARCH & DESIGN INTENT (MVP 2)

After research (Our original intent) we decided to design a hyper-casual farming mini game for DBS. Players play a variety of farming-related mini-games to obtain in-game coins that can be exchanged for prizes directly or re-invested for more rewards. Each of these games can be played Single Player and or Multiplayer, as Players are highly encouraged to play with their friends as doing so will earn them up to 25% more in-game coins.

Most actions within the game consume energy. Once exhausted, players can either make a P2B transaction at selected partners’ or wait out the entire recovery period. This will require modifications made to the existing LUDO API. The in-game coins obtained from the mini-games can be used to exchange: real-life products and vouchers from partners and or in-game seeds that can yield more coins. By purchasing in- game seeds, players can unlock farming that helps to grow other crops that could be sold for in game coins or prizes. More details will be released about the overall game and loop when the game is released.

We also pitched 6 different type of mini-games to DBS from the evergreen game, and one of the games were chosen to gauge interest with random customers as a limited time campaign. Below you can see the screens I drew that were used to inform the final design of the mini-game which was released to the public.
